Seasonal Shifts & How They’ve Been Affecting Me — And Maybe You Too

Lately, I’ve been noticing the seasons shifting, not just outside, but inside me too.

The darker mornings, the cooler evenings, the feeling that the days move differently this time of year. And I’ve been realizing how much this actually affects my mood, my energy, my sleep, even the way I eat.

I wanted to share this because I know so many of us feel these changes but don’t always talk about them. If you’re going through something similar, you’re not alone.

The Emotional Shift I Feel When the Seasons Change

Every year, as the light fades, I feel myself soften in ways that are uncomfortable and comforting at the same time.

My mood gets a bit heavier. I feel a little more reflective, a little more sensitive, and sometimes a little less motivated.

It’s not dramatic, just subtle shifts that change the way the world feels.

I’ve learned that this is completely normal. Our bodies respond to light. Our minds respond to rhythm. And sometimes our hearts simply respond to the quiet.

Sleep Becomes… Different

This season always throws my sleep off.

Some nights I fall asleep fast, other nights I’m restless. Some mornings I wake up tired even after a long sleep.

It’s like my body is trying to find a new rhythm that matches the season, and I have to be patient with it.

The Way My Body Craves Different Food

I always joke that my body can sense fall before I can, because suddenly all I want are warm meals, soups, bread, cozy drinks and grounding foods.

But truthfully, these cravings make sense. My body is looking for comfort, warmth, nourishment.

And I’m learning to listen instead of fight it.

What I’ve Been Doing to Support Myself

Running a spa gives me access to beautiful tools and rituals, but at the end of the day, I’m still a human being navigating the same shifts as everyone else.

Here’s what’s been helping me realign my energy this season:

1. Making Space for Rest & Ritual

I’ve been reminding myself that rest isn’t laziness, it’s alignment.

Sometimes it’s a warm shower.

Sometimes it’s a facial that makes me breathe deeper.

Sometimes it’s 10 minutes of quiet before the day begins.

Creating moments of presence has helped me reconnect with myself.

2. Surrounding Myself with Positive Energy

I’ve been really intentional about what I surround myself with, people, places, routines, even thoughts. Positive energy isn’t just a vibe. It’s a choice. And some days it’s a harder choice than others. But I’m learning that the more I ground myself in gratitude, breath, and slowness, the easier it gets.

3. Leaning Into Small, Comforting Rituals

Lighting a candle.

Drinking warm tea.

Using a sheet mask.

Soaking in a bath after a long day.

Breathing in essential oils.

These small grounding moments have made a bigger difference than I expected. They help soften the edges of the season.

4. Remembering That I Don’t Have to Move at the Same Speed All Year

This has been the biggest lesson for me. Nature slows down, and maybe I’m supposed to as well. Instead of pushing against the seasonal shift, I’m trying to move with it. To trust that slowing down doesn’t mean losing momentum; it means restoring it.

If You’re Feeling This Too…

I hope this reminds you that you’re not alone. Seasonal shifts are real, and they affect us mind, body, and spirit. And whether you support yourself at home with simple rituals, or you come see us at the spa for a moment of reset, I hope you give yourself permission to soften, rest, and realign. We’re all navigating this season together, one breath, one intention, one small act of care at a time.

Warmly,

Sabrina
